Kenya’s athletics legend Rose Tata Muya handed ambassadorial role on peace
Kenya’s athletics legend Rose Tata Muya has been honored as a global peace ambassador by Women’s Federation for World Peace Organization.
Muya who is also the Secretary Generation for Athletics Kenya Masters was among the seven Kenyan women who have been honored the Seoul based international organization.
Through her organization Kenya Sports Development Organization, Rose Tata has been instrumental in mentoring young athletes and preaching peace amongst different communities in the country.
“I am happy to be honored with this award and it means that what I am doing for my country has been recognized appreciate this group for honoring me for what I have achieved in terms of sports. I have been engaging in mentorship of upcoming athletes and also preaching in the communities,” Rose Tata expressed her elation following the recognition.’
The chairperson of the Women’s Federation for World Peace Kenya Susan Kone congratulated the recipients of the awards and reiterated the importance of harmonious living within the communities in the country.
“Today we were honoring different women in Kenya who have done well in the well-being of our country through the preaching of peace. We have been empowering women and especially teaching leadership. Our desire is to actually create peace, enabling and empowering everyone at the family level,” Kone said.
The Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) is a dynamic international woman`s organization that promotes women as essential partners in creating a peaceful global society.
It was founded in 1992 in South Korea and quickly expanded to over 100 countries. Within 5 years, WFWPI was granted General Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
In Kenya, it has been active since the NGO`s registration in 1994 and has been impactful in areas of Peace building, Reconciliation and National Cohesion, Women and Youth empowerment programs, Mental Health awareness and Character Education for the you and the latest project being the Green Solar Energy for the African Villages project.
