Kenyan duo Lawrence Juma, Fredrick Odhiambo join Rwandese side

Harambee Stars midfielder Lawrence Juma has signed for Rwandese side Premier League side AS Kigali, the club has confirmed.

The Nyamirambo-based club announced that the midfielder has signed a two-year deal with the side ahead of the new season.

“Welcoming our new Signing, Ochieng Lawrence Juma inks two-year deal with AS Kigali,” the club announced.

The club has also signed goalkeeper Fredrick Odhiambo and has handed him a two-year deal as well.

“Welcoming our New Signing,Otinda Fredrick Odhiambo inks a two-year deal with AS Kigali,” another statement reads.

Juma joins the club from FKF Premier League side Sofapaka FC where he has been since October 2020.

The midfielder took to social media to bid his immediate former employer goodbye and thanked the Batoto ba Mungu fraternity for contributing to his growth as a player.

“It’s truly been an honour to lead such an awesome team. I am glad for the opportunity that has greatly bolstered my new move. Today marks the start of a new chapter and before I begin, I want to express my sincere gratitude to my immediate former employer, Sofapaka Familia, my teammates, and everyone who has been instrumental in my growth. I wish you all the very best for the coming season,” he posted.

Juma started his top-flight career with FKF Premier League side Nzoia Sugar. He quit in 2017 to join Gor Mahia FC where he spend four seasons and left at the end of the 2019/20 season.

He won four league titles with Gor Mahia FC during his four-year stay.

At Sofapaka, he won the midfielder of the year award in 2021 and has been the team’s captain.

Odhiambo, on his part, joined Sofapaka ahead of last season and leaves after just a season where Sofapaka finished eighth. He moves to Rwanda as a replacement for Bate Shamiru who has since left the club.
