Kenya Volleyball Federation releases Malkia Strikers 2025 provisional squad

The Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) has released the provisional squad for the Malkia Strikers, the national women’s volleyball team, as they gear up for the FIVB World Championship.
“Malkia Strikers 2025 Provisional Squad is out! The road to begins as Kenya gears up for the FIVB World Champs (Aug 22–Sept 7) in Pool G vs Poland, Germany & Vietnam,” the post stated.
The announcement, made on Monday, June 9, 2025, signals the start of an exciting journey. The team will compete in Pool G against Poland, Germany, and Vietnam from August 22 to September 7 in Thailand.
The squad includes setters Emmaculate Nekesa (KPC), Fridah Boke (KCB), Marcleen Okoko (PRISONS), Vivian Vuguzza (DCI), and Vallarie Chepkoech (KDF).
Middle blockers are Gladys Ekaru (KPC), Belinda Barasa (KCB), Lorine Kaei (PRISONS), Lydia Emokol (KPC), Elizabeth Sokoiyo (KPC), and Pauline Chemutai (KCB).
Liberos are Celestine Nyongesa (KPC), Delphine Misoki (PRISONS), Sharleen Maywa (KCB), Sharon Sandui (PRISONS), and Peninah Wafula (DCI).
Outside hitters include Mariam Musa (KPC), Daisy Leting (KPC), Veronichah Adhiambo, Juliana Namutira (KCB), Pauline Itoo (PRISONS), Sarah Namisi (DCI), Meldina Sande (POLICE RWA), and Valentine Chemutai (P. BANK).
Opposites are Loice Simiyu (KPC), Pamela Adhiambo, Marlyn Tata (KCB), Deborah Jesang (KCB), and Mercy Iminza (DCI).
Strong legacy and final preparations
Led by head coach Geoffrey Omondi, with assistant coaches David Muthui and Esther Jepkosgei, the team is well-supported. Kenya boasts a rich volleyball history, winning the Women’s African Volleyball Championship 10 times since the 1990s and qualifying for the Olympics in 2000, 2004, 2020, and 2024. Their 2023 title win against Egypt secured their 2025 spot, despite past challenges like financial disputes.

Cameroon, another African representative, has been drawn into Pool H alongside reigning champions Serbia, Olympic gold medalists Japan, and Ukraine. Meanwhile, Egypt will battle it out in Pool A with tournament hosts the Netherlands and Sweden.
As part of their final preparations for the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship–set to take place from August 22 to September 7–Malkia Strikers are scheduled to hold a week-long training camp in Vietnam. This will follow the conclusion of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League end-of-season playoffs, ensuring the team is well-conditioned before heading to Thailand for the global showdown.
