Kenya U18 final squad for CECAFA U18 announced

The final squad for the Kenya U18 team participating in the CECAFA U-18 Boys Championship in Kisumu County has been narrowed down to 23 players.

USA-based Louis Ingavi and three players from Spain’s Nastic Sports Academy – Aldrine Kibet, Amos Wanjala, and Alvin Kasavuli – have successfully made it to the final squad.

Kenya U18 key names

Several players with experience in the FKF Premier League have also been included in the squad, such as Stanley Wilson and Sigmunn Maina from Kariobangi Sharks, Baron Ochieng from Sofapaka, Lucas Maina from Ulinzi Stars, and Ibrahim Wanzala from Kakamega Homeboyz.

Adding depth to the squad are players from FKFNSL and Division One clubs Rainbow FC and MOFA, including notable names like Tyron Kariuki, Manzur Suleiman, and Joseph Bate.

The team departed for Kisumu on Thursday, November 23, 2023, ahead of the CECAFA U-18 Boys Championship, scheduled to take place in Kisumu and Kakamega from November 25 to December 9.

Kenya U18 Pools

The Championship, featuring eight teams, will be contested in the towns of Kisumu and Kakamega.

In Pool A, Kenya U-18 will compete against Somalia, Rwanda, and Sudan, with matches to be held at Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Mamboleo, Kisumu. Pool B comprises Tanzania, Zanzibar, South Sudan, and Uganda, with matches taking place at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

The semi-finals are scheduled for December 5, with all semi-final matches and the final set to be played in Kisumu. The CECAFA U-18 Boys Championship promises to showcase emerging talent and foster regional football development.
