Kenya Police CEO, Chris Oguso has emphasized the importance of providing medical cover for players, stating that it plays a crucial role in their recovery process.

Speaking during the club licensing workshop, Oguso, who is part of the Kenya Police management, highlighted that having medical insurance for players can help fasten their treatment and rehabilitation from injuries.

He added that without such covers, the expenses associated with treating injuries can be exorbitant and may force players to prematurely end their football careers.

“When a player sustains an injury, having medical cover is crucial for their recovery process. If well taken care of, it can expedite their return to the field. In contrast, without medical cover, expenses can escalate, and the player’s football journey may be abruptly shortened,” he stated.

Oguso also revealed ambitious plans for Kenya Police Bullets FC, the women’s team recently acquired by Kenya Police to comply with CAF Club licensing regulations.

He said the club has implemented a payroll system and will offer players opportunities within the Police service, ensuring they have career options beyond football.

“We have successfully acquired Kenya Police Bullets FC to represent our women’s football team. Moreover, we have incorporated them into our payroll system and offered them an opportunity to be enlisted in the police force to give them a future after their football careers,” Oguso said.

Ensuring players receive their monthly dues is a top priority for the club, and they have invested in infrastructure, including the police Sacco stadium, to comply with CAF regulations.

A well-structured secretariat hierarchy is also in place to manage the club’s administrative affairs effectively.

“Ensuring our players receive their monthly dues is one of our top priorities. In terms of infrastructure, we have the police Sacco stadium and maintain a well-structured secretariat hierarchy,” he added.

The club licensing process is an essential regulatory system established by the CAF to ensure that football clubs participating in CAF competitions meet specific standards and criteria.

These criteria encompass sporting, infrastructure, administrative, legal, and financial aspects.

The deadline for clubs to submit the required documents for their club licensing certificate in the Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP) is set for Saturday, August 12, 2023.

After submission, the First Instance Board will review the documents and issue the necessary licenses for clubs to compete in domestic competitions.
