GSU and Prisons book semifinal slots in men’s volleyball playoffs

General Service Unit (GSU) booked their slot in the semifinal of the ongoing 2024/2025 Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Men’s League playoff staged at the Kasarani Gymnasium Indoor Arena this Saturday, May 10, 2025.
The paramilitary team edged the Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU) in an entertaining three-set win to claim back-to-back wins and punch their ticket to the semifinals.
GSU dominated the first set in a 25-19 scoreline. The opponent mounted a strong opposition in the second set but still lost 25-22 before sealing the best-of-three tie with a 28-26 victory.
The win assured the defending champions of a place in the final four, coming after Friday, May 9, 2025’s opening victory over the same opponents 3-0.
The victory saw GSU join Kenya Prisons among the sides to have qualified for the semifinals.
Prisons edge KFS
Prison, under the tutelage of coach Dennis Mokua, mounted a spirited show to edge Kenya Forest Service (KFS) 3-2 in the quarterfinal series tie on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
The two sides traded a couple of wins in the opening four sets before Prisons came up clutch to claim the decisive fifth.
After dropping the first and third sets, Prisons bounced back in the fourth and sealed the decider 15–13.
Meanwhile, Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) also made a strong statement for qualification to the semifinal with a 3-0 humbling of Trailblazers on Friday, May 9, 2025, quarterfinal opener.

KPA started the tie on a strong footing, taking the first set 25-19. The side maintained the tempo to clinch Set 2 on a 25-16 win.
The Trailblazers responded with renewed energy in the third set, pushing KPA to the limit. However, KPA remained composed under pressure, edging out the set 25-22 to seal the match.
KDF down Equity
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) also registered a winning start in their tie, downing a hard-fighting Equity Bank 3-1 in the first game of the quarterfinal 3 played on Friday, May 9, 2025.
The military team and Kenya Ports Authority remain in strong positions to join bigwigs Prisons and GSU in the ultimate four-team battle for the ultimate honours.
The Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) play-offs bring together the top eight clubs contesting the volleyball league to battle it out for the ultimate prize of the national league title.
