KCB women cruise to victory over Nairobi Prison in style
KCB Women’s volleyball team powered past Nairobi Prison with a dominant 3-0 victory in the third leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) League at Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday.
Under the guidance of head coach Japheth Munala, the Bankers showed their class, delivering a clinical performance to win in straight sets (25-16, 25-17, 25-14).
The victory saw KCB extend their strong start to the season, further boosting their campaign in the league standings.
“Our reception, attacks and blocks worked perfectly well today,” Munala said after the win.
“We started the season on a high and it is my hope that we will maintain the same momentum to move up the ladder in the log standings.”
With key player Juliana Namutira sidelined due to an ankle injury, young Faith Cherotich stepped up to start alongside seasoned players like Edith Wisa, Marlene Terry, Fridah Boke, Belinda Barasa, Lincy Jeruto and Mercy Moim.
Marlene Terry and Fridah Boke have been instrumental in KCB’s recent success, with their passion and skills providing a fresh edge to Munala’s side.
“Even with Esther Mutinda out for the season, I’m impressed with the young players stepping up and showing their hunger for success,” Munala added.
The team will now turn their attention to their next match against Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) this coming Sunday at the same venue.
