Karen ready for Johnnie Walker Golf Series grand finale
It is all systems go as the ultimate showdown in the 2022 Johnnie Walker Golf Series takes place tomorrow at the Karen Country Club where the par-72 course hosts the series’ Grand Finale.
This will be the 20th and final event of the even’s calendar that kicked off in November 2021 and which has seen over 3,000 golfers participating across 18 golf clubs in the country.
Twenty-five teams of four who qualified to play for the semi-final (Eagle’s Round) held last week at Muthaiga Golf Club are expected to battle it out for the ultimate honour of being crowned the overall series champion. At stake is a fully-paid trip to the iconic Gleneagles Golf Course in Scotland for the winning team.
Speaking ahead of the event dubbed Road to Gleneagles, EABL’s Marketing Manager Josephine Katambo said, “We are delighted to be holding our Grand Finale this Friday as a culmination of what has been a very successful golf series that kicked off last year. With top amateur players from across the country set to battle it out and the stakes being high, we can expect nothing but the very best of what the series has had to offer.”
Katambo noted that the series had great participation from across the country with over 3,000 golfers taking part.
“This speaks to what we set to achieve at the onset of this series which was to give as many golfers a chance to play and improve their competitive skills.
This is part of our commitment as a brand to support the growth and development of the sport of golf in the country which has shown great potential,” she said.
Like in the qualifying rounds in the series, the golfers will compete in the tournament’s four-ball Stableford format during the Grand Finale.
The Karen club which is one of the most pristine courses is currently in great condition, with some high scores expected from the golfers.
