Karagita juniors reign supreme as new campaign kicks off in Naivasha
Raw talent was on display during the under 15 and under 13 league matches played at Kihoto grounds in Naivasha on Saturday.
The skillful and immensely talented under 13 team from the sprawling Karagita estate was the darling of the crowd with their efficient football.
They made light work of the opponents, toying with them with deft touches and one touch football winning 2-0.
On the score sheet was Abdi Mohamed who finished off a free flowing move from the fluid youngsters in the 27th minute.
Eliud Edapal scored the second in the 70th minute following yet another beautiful passing passage as their tiring opponents retreated to guard their goal.
In the second match pitting Gold Stone (Maai Mahiu) and New Hope FC, speedy winger Ryan Nyamora scored a hat-trick as his side saw off their opponents in one sided encounter.
Muriti Liman added the fourth goal after great work by the roving Nyamora with the league getting off to a great start in Naivasha Sub County.
The FKF youth committee chairman Chris Amimo said the initiative to start a youth league in all the sub counties was spearheaded by the federation’s head office. “We began in Nairobi last month, today we are in Nakuru and probably head to Mombasa in the coming days,” said the football official.
He said the main aim of the league was to expose talented youngsters to competitive football matches at a tender age.
“The tradition has been players engage in competitive leagues at their prime thus making it difficult for the country to become competitive,” said Amimo.
He said the federation will eventually form an all stars team comprising the under 15’s and under 13’s in every county.
“We shall then have centers where we will avail training equipment for the all stars team,’ he explained.
He said aspiring coaches will undergo training to help equip them with skills required for handling the young talent.
On his part, Francis Oliele, FKF Nakuru county chairman said they were committed to tapping talents across the country.
“Basically, today marked the start of the Nakuru county tournament,” he said.
He expressed satisfaction with the matches played, signalling out the immensely talented youths from Karagita.
The Sanctuary Youth Football Academy (SYFA) official Douglas Omendo welcomed the move by the federation, terming it “as the way to go.”
