Kalonzo fulfils promise, secures 500 tickets for Harambee Stars’ clash with Angola
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has delivered on his pledge to sponsor fans for the upcoming CHAN 2024 match between Harambee Stars and Angola, scheduled for Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Kasarani Stadium.
In a statement shared on his X account on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Kalonzo confirmed he had purchased 500 tickets for the match, which were handed over to the Kenya Football Fans Federation (KEFOFA) for distribution.
“As promised on Sunday, I purchased 500 tickets to tomorrow’s Harambee Stars vs. Angola match at Kasarani,” Kalonzo wrote.

He expressed gratitude to Wiper Secretary General Senator Shakila Abdalla and Executive Director Benson Milai for presenting the tickets to KEFOFA President Francis Liyobi on his behalf.
“Asante Wiper Party SG Senator Shakila Abdalla and Executive Director Benson Milai for handing over the tickets to Francis Liyobi, president of the Kenya Football Fans Federation, on my behalf. Tushabikie #HarambeeStars!” he added, calling on Kenyans to rally behind the national team.

Kalonzo’s initiative
Kalonzo’s gesture follows his earlier criticism of what he termed the state’s monopolisation of match access through block ticket buying for political loyalists.
In a post on his X account on August 3, 2025, the Wiper leader lamented the exclusion of ordinary fans from the stadium during Kenya’s CHAN opener against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
“Football is a universal language that brings people together. This regime’s wholesale ticket buying, which denies genuine football fans the opportunity to see their Harambee Stars, should be condemned,” he said at the time.

He further committed to sponsoring fans to attend each of Harambee Stars’ next three CHAN 2024 home matches through KEFOFA, where he serves as patron.
“I’m sponsoring 500 fans to attend the next three CHAN2024 Harambee Stars matches at Kasarani through the Kenya Football Fans Federation (KEFOFA), of which I am the patron. Football is for everyone,” he declared.
