‘It’s all about self-belief’ – Ruth Chepng’etich confident ahead of London Marathon
World marathon record holder Ruth Chepng’etich is confident that she will do her best during the upcoming London Marathon.
Chepng’etich will face top rivals during the race that will take place on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
She will come up against two-time Berlin Marathon champion Tigist Assefa, Olympic marathon champions Sifan Hassan and Ethiopia’s star Tamirat Tola.
2021 London Marathon champion Joyciline Jepkosgei and Valencia Marathon champion Alemu Megertu, who finished third and fourth, respectively, in London this year, will also run and are among the six women in the field with personal bests faster than 2:17.
Despite the strongest lineup awaiting her in London, Chepng’etich is confident of getting a good result.
“It’s a very strong field, and we are all strong. It’s all about self-belief, and I am hoping for the best,” Chepng’etich said as quoted by a local publication.
She also spoke about her training programme.
“My training has not been smooth. But I’m getting started now. I have decided to go back to London for the third time, and I am hoping for the best. I will do my best and run.
“I started my preparations with the prison’s cross country. I did it as speed work since Madrid. It’s less than 100 days to the London Marathon, and I have officially started training,” she added.
