Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has called for increased investment and better structures to help Kenya’s football talent reach its full potential, following a high-level meeting at State House.

In a statement posted on his X account on September 3, 2025, Hussein Mohammed emphasised that while the country’s footballers are undeniably skilled, their full potential can only be realised through strategic support and proper frameworks.

“This morning at State House, Nairobi, I joined H.E. President William Ruto, sector leaders, and the FKF NEC in rallying the private sector to be part of this transformative journey,” he wrote.

Hussein expressed optimism about Kenya’s prospects on the global football stage, suggesting that with the right support structures, the country could establish itself among the world’s leading football nations.

“Kenya’s football talent is vast and undeniable. What we need is the right investment, collaboration, and structures to unlock it,” Mohammed added.

Private sector collaboration

The FKF president expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet with key stakeholders at State House, saying the discussions focused on creating sustainable pathways for football development in the country.

Mohammed highlighted the importance of engaging the private sector in what he described as a transformative journey for Kenyan football.

“Together, we can position Kenya among the world’s football powerhouses and give every talented Kenyan the chance to shine,” Mohammed declared.

“This truly marks a new dawn for Kenyan football,” he reiterated.

Kenya’s football status

His comments come days after he hailed the just-concluded African Nations Championship (CHAN) as a defining moment for the country, saying it has solidified Kenya’s status as the continent’s football hub.

In a statement posted on his X account on Saturday, August 30, 2025, Hussein stressed that the conclusion of CHAN 2024 had set a new benchmark for sporting excellence in the region and positioned Kenya as a leading force in African football.

“With #CHAN2024 successfully concluded, the bar has been set high. Kenya has firmly cemented its place as the epicentre of African football, and we now look ahead with optimism to AFCON 2027,” he declared.
