Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed has hailed a well-coordinated grassroots teamwork that delivered a successful 2025 Youth League.

His sentiments come as the curtain falls on the FKF Youth Leagues Nairobi season, with champions crowned across six categories following an exciting finals day at the Austine Odhiambo Sports Complex, Baba Dogo, on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

Brighter future

”These young players are the foundation of Kenya’s football future. I want to thank the FKF Youth Football Committee, led by FKF Vice President McDonald Mariga, for their guidance, our dedicated Youth Leagues Volunteers, Centre Coordinators, the FKF Technical Department, members of the Secretariat, coaches, and every team that participated this season,” Mohammed stated on Monday, January 12, 2026.

”Special appreciation goes to FIFA through the Talent Development Scheme (TDS) for supporting this programme and helping nurture our next generation of football talent. Kenya’s football future is bright, and it starts with our youth.” He added.

The finals brought together top-performing development sides from across the capital in the Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 age groups for both boys and girls.

In the Under 13 boys’ final, Icon Academy (Kasarani) produced a dominant display to secure a 3-0 victory over Heroes (Kariobangi) and emphatically claim the championship.

The Under 13 girls’ title went to St. Anne’s (Makadara), who edged out Acafoa (Kariobangi) 1-0 in a tightly contested match to emerge champions. The Under 15 boys’ final proved to be one of the most dramatic contests of the day, with Vision Stars (Mukuru) and Rodney Strikers (Ruaraka) playing out a goalless draw in regulation time. Rodney Strikers held their nerve in the ensuing penalty shootout, edging Vision Stars 6-5 to lift the trophy.

Drama continued in the Under 17 girls’ final, where Mukuru Sports (Mukuru) and Kariobangi Sharks (Kariobangi) also finished level at the end of normal time. Mukuru Sports emerged victorious in the shootout, winning 5-4 on penalties to claim the title.

The day concluded with a commanding performance in the Under 17 boys’ final, as Rodney Strikers (Ruaraka) sealed a 3-0 victory over Tikitaka (Kayole). The win ensured Rodney Strikers completed a memorable double, having earlier claimed the Under 15 boys’ crown.

The FKF Youth Leagues Nairobi Finals highlighted the competitive balance and growing quality of youth football across the capital. Several matches were decided by fine margins, reflecting the progress made at the grassroots level.
