Homeboyz coach: Why Harambee Stars keeper Matasi has not yet played

Kakamega Homeboyz coach Francis Baraza has lifted the lid on why Harambee Stars keeper and club’s new signing Patrick Matasi is yet to start a game.
The Harambee Stars keeper is part of the new contingent at Homeboyz after parting ways with Police FC during the mid-season transfer window.
He has however contended with his place on the bench with Simon Masaka preferred in the starting line-up.
In a fleeting reference of not intending to tinker with a working strategy, Baraza revealed that the new keeper will have to wait for his chance.
Doing well
“The other keeper Simon (Masaka) is doing well in the games he has played so far. He has kept five clean sheets in our recent matches which is quite well.
“We got a good keeper in (Patrick) Matasi. He is an experienced keeper and I believe with him we are good to go,” Baraza told People Daily Digital.
“His time will come. He just needs to be patient at the moment,” he added.
In what could be able exciting battle for the starting berth at goal, Masaka has risen to the challenge quite remarkably having grabbed the chance for a rare start with both arms.

The keeper has been an integral part of Homeboyz’s five straight shut-outs with his clean-sheet against Nairobi City Stars being his latest.

The streak has shot the club to seventh on the log.
The ex-Ingwe and Posta Rangers’ shot stopper linked up with Henry Omollo, and Ben Saul in Homeboyz signings for the window.

A 5-0 demolition of City Stars secured Francis Baraza’s charges the Football Kenya Federation Kenya Premier League Week 21 best winner’s status ahead of a return to home fixtures.
The next face at Murang’a Seals at the Mumias Complex.
