The race for top spot in CHAN 2024 Group A remains finely balanced at halftime, with both matches locked in stalemates.

At Kasarani, Kenya and Zambia are goalless after a tight opening 45 minutes. The Harambee Stars, already assured of a quarter-final place, began brightly with captain Abud Omar pushing high and Austin Odhiambo dictating midfield play. However, despite long spells of possession and several half-chances, Kenya have been unable to break down a compact Zambian defence.

Zambia, already eliminated, have offered little going forward but remain disciplined, frustrating the home side and their supporters. Coach Benni McCarthy will be urging his players to find more cutting edge in the second half as they chase the victory that would secure top spot in the group.

Meanwhile at Nyayo National Stadium, the clash between Morocco and DR Congo has been more eventful. Morocco struck first in the 7th minute, capitalising on early pressure to take the lead and put themselves in contention for a quarter-final spot. But DR Congo responded in the 43rd minute, grabbing an equaliser just before the break to restore parity at 1-1.

The halftime results keep Group B wide open, with Kenya holding a narrow advantage at the top.

With 45 minutes left, Kenya will be aiming for a decisive win to seal top spot, while Morocco and DR Congo continue to fight for survival.
