The General Service Unit (GSU) men’s volleyball team are the 2024/25 Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League champions.

“They’ve always come close, but this time, they finished on top,” said the Kenya Volleyball account on X.

After falling short in recent seasons, GSU finally got their hands on the title after thrashing the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in straight sets during the decisive tiebreaker match (25-19, 25-21, 25-22) at the Kasarani Gym on Sunday, June 8, 2025.

Their win is well-deserved and comes after months of hard work on and off the court.

GSU faced KPA in a best-of-three playoff series. In the first leg on Friday, June 6, 2025, the paramilitary side secured a 3-0 win (25-21, 25-22, 30-28). However, they faltered in Game Two on Saturday, where KPA bounced back with a 3-1 victory (25-23, 23-25, 25-26, 25-19) to force a winner-takes-all decider.

They met again on Sunday, June 8, 2025, for the final showdown. GSU once again played with confidence and discipline, sealing the win–and with it, the league title.

Earlier in the season, GSU had beaten defending champions Kenya Prisons 3-2 in a tough five-set match. That victory gave them the belief that they could go all the way.

Historic highs for Equity and Pipeline

Equity Bank also had a reason to celebrate. They beat Kenya Prisons in the third-place playoff to earn their first-ever medal in the men’s league.

In the women’s league, Kenya Pipeline were crowned champions after beating DCI in a best-of-three final. Pipeline showed their experience and class, especially in the second leg, which went to five sets.

KCB beat Kenya Prisons to take the bronze medal in the women’s category. Pipeline also scooped most of the individual awards, with their player Daisy Letting being named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
