With the clock ticking ahead of the biggest fixture in Kenyan football between Gor Mahia and archrivals AFC Leopards, K’Ogalo is putting its fans on high alert over the sale of fake club merchandise.

In a statement released late on Saturday, December 6, 2025, Gor Mahia advised its fans to purchase jerseys from authorised vendors.

The club noted with concern that some businesspeople were deceiving fans into buying fake merchandise, which is against the club’s policy.

K’Ogalo appealed to its fans to support Gor Mahia by only purchasing original jerseys.

“Do not support fraudsters who profit using the club’s name; always buy authentic merchandise from authorised outlets only,” the club stated.

The fixture

Gor and AFC Leopards are expected to lock horns on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Nyayo National Stadium, with kick-off confirmed for 3:00 pm. They settled on Nyayo Stadium after intensive consultation with Sports Kenya.

The match was initially scheduled for November 30, 2025, at Kasarani, but CAF regulations forced a change after the venue was allocated to host Nairobi United vs AS Maniema Union in the CAF Confederation Cup. Continental matches take precedence over domestic fixtures, leaving the federation with no choice but to move the derby.

FKF then shifted the match to November 29, 2025, at Nyayo Stadium. That plan collapsed, too. Nyayo had already been booked by State House for preparations ahead of World AIDS Day, with setup beginning on November 28, 2025, making the stadium unavailable for football.

Both sides have promised a mouthwatering clash during the Mashemeji Derby. Gor Mahia come into this derby sitting among the league’s frontrunners with 19 points, while AFC Leopards trail by five points in seventh place.

Gor will be looking to exert their dominance, while AFC will be seeking revenge for previous beatings. Both coaches have expressed confidence ahead of the biggest fixture. Despite some injury setbacks, Gor Mahia head coach Charles Akonnor asked the fans to be calm while Fred Ambani remained bullish, assuring the fans of a beautiful game of football.

Off-field, cultural practices from diehards are also expected to play out before and after the game, followed by proper banter.
