In a bid to secure their participation in CAF football next season, Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia FC have lodged an appeal against the decision to revoke their club licensing certificate.

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) on Thursday communicated to the club that their licensing certificate had been revoked due to a breach of article 60 of the CAF Licensing regulations, specifically concerning the timely clearing of player dues.

Gor Mahia owe trio

Gor Mahia FC had failed to meet the agreed-upon payment dates for former players, including Adama Keita, leading to the revocation of their club licensing certificate.

However, in a letter addressed to the Federation, Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier asserts that the club has indeed settled the dues owed to the three players and has provided payment slips as evidence.

The appeal letter reads, “We write to appeal on the revocation of our Club license certificate; we received the letter this afternoon via FKF through FKF SG/CEO Barry Otieno.”

“On the overdue payables to our former players namely; Outdo Yangayay, Adama Keita, Jules Ulimwengu. To confirm to your able office all the overdue payables to the above former players have been remitted, and all the remittance slips shared herein,” the latter further said.

Gor Mahia seeking reinstatement

Gor Mahia FC now appeals to the FKF to reconsider their earlier decision and reinstate the club in the upcoming CAF Inter-Club Competition.

The club emphasizes that the outstanding player dues have been settled, and they seek swift action from the Federation to rectify the situation.

“We request your able office to reconsider the earlier decision on revoking our certificate and reinstate our Club on the CAF Inter-Club Competition. Your quick decision and action will be highly appreciated,” the letter stated.

Gor Mahia, alongside Kakamega Homeboyz and Tusker FC, received a significant boost in June 2023 when the FKF’s First Instance Body (FIB) granted them licenses to feature in CAF football next season.

The three top-tier clubs met the stringent CAF club licensing requirements, paving the way for their participation in prestigious continental competitions.
