Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed has revealed the various fan spots where Harambee Stars fans can watch the upcoming 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) clash pitting Kenya against Zambia on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

The FKF supremo made the revelation this Wednesday, August 13, 2025, via his X page as the federation looks to nip in the bud the challenge of crowd trouble that has marred the hosting of the biennial tournament that started on Saturday, August 3, 2025, across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

The fan zones will be located at Uhuru Park (CBD), Lucky Summer-Ngomo/area (behind Kasarani Stadium), Dandora Stadium, Utalii (Stima Club), Jacaranda Grounds, and Kibera DC Grounds.

Six designated zones

‘For those without tickets, official fan zones with big screens will be open at Jacaranda, Uhuru Park, Dandora Stadium, Utalii, Kasarani, and DC Grounds, Kibra. Let’s enjoy the game safely and protect our football,” he said.

The foregoing comes as FKF and the government ramp up safety protocols to ensure that the recent multiple safety and security breaches at the stadium are dealt with once and for all.

The breaches have come at a dear cost, with two of Kenya’s games attracting hefty fines from the tournament organisers, The Confederation of African Football (CAF).

During the particular match played on Sunday, August 10, 2025, ticketless fans overpowered security agencies at the Kasarani Stadium and forced themselves into the stadium against the guidelines of CAF on security and safety at CHAN 2024. Following the occurrence, FKF was slapped with a Ksh6.4 million fine on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

Hefty fines

“The Disciplinary Board found Kenya guilty and imposed a fine of USD 50,000 (Ksh 6.4 million) on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, on Kenya’s football governing body, FKF. Kenya was warned that continued failure to meet CAF safety and security requirements may lead to the relocation of Kenya’s National Team matches to an alternative venue. Kenya was advised to increase security measures by deploying sufficient personnel within the perimeter of the stadium, as well as adhering to the road closures on match days,” CAF said in a statement.

FKF has recently implored football enthusiasts to abide by the CAF-stipulated guidelines during match days to avoid attracting strict penalties from the continent’s football governing body over safety and security breaches.

”Fans, let us support the Harambee Stars responsibly this Sunday against Zambia and in all upcoming games. Crowd trouble is costing us dearly, and we are facing heavy sanctions. Only show up at Kasarani if you have a genuine ticket. Let us not destroy the game we have struggled to build,” FKF said in an appeal to fans on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
