Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has officially welcomed Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Dr. Patrice Motsepe to Nairobi ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 final.

In a statement posted on his X account on Saturday, August 30, 2025, Mohammed emphasised Kenya’s organisation of the continental tournament and its positive impact on the country’s status in African football.

“I am delighted to once again welcome @CAF_Online President Dr Patrice Motsepe to Kenya for the #CHAN2024 final,” Mohammed wrote.

Tournament success

The FKF president expressed pride in how Kenya has conducted the tournament, suggesting that the country’s hosting abilities have impressed the international football community.

“Kenya has captured the hearts of the world with our successful hosting of this tournament,” Mohammed stated.

The FKF boss highlighted the significance of Nairobi playing host to the CAF Executive Committee meeting on the eve of the final, saying it underscored the growing recognition of Kenya’s football leadership on the continental stage.

“The CAF Executive Committee meeting in Nairobi, bringing together FA presidents and football leaders from across Africa on the eve of the final, is further testament to how solid football leadership is placing our nation at the centre of the continental and global football scene,” he explained.

He further described the CHAN 2024 final as a historic moment not just for Kenya, but for African football at large.

“I look forward to welcoming everyone to Nairobi for the #CHAN2024 final — a historic moment for our country and for African football,” the FKF president declared.

FIFA President in Kenya

This statement comes just hours after Hussein welcomed FIFA President Gianni Infantino to Kenya for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals, which are taking place on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

“On behalf of the Kenyan football family, I warmly welcome @FIFAcom President Gianni Infantino to Kenya for the first time, as we gear up for the #CHAN2024 final,” Mohammed posted on his X account on August 30, 2025.
