FKF President Hussein Mohammed appeals to fans against vandalism
By Arnold Ngure, August 25, 2025Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has appealed to Kenyans to protect the stadiums built even after the CHAN competition is over.
Speaking during a live TV interview on Sunday, August 24, 2025, Mohammed appealed to Kenyans to avoid vandalizing sporting infrastructure, noting that the stadiums could offer more opportunities for the country beyond CHAN.
“It is important to sensitize Kenyans and our fans in general to take care of the infrastructure. Some of the biggest damage comes from vandalism of the facilities, so we need to be extra careful when we come to the stadiums,” Mohammed said.
Protect facilities
“Protect your taxpayers’ investment; it is what you have paid for, so, please, protect those facilities in whatever way you can.”

Mohammed equally noted that the sporting industry is a major employer, and that if nurtured well, it could become a profitable industry and support businesses in the country.
“Sports is a big employer; within that ecosystem, there are photojournalists, videographers, physicians, nutritionists, content creators, vendors, and so on. The more we host these tournaments, the more lucrative we will make football,” Mohammed observed.
Domestic and international fixtures
The FKF president equally stated that the infrastructure developed for CHAN could serve the country both for the domestic leagues and international fixtures for African countries looking for stadiums that meet CAF and FIFA standards.

“One of the legacy projects for CHAN is the infrastructure. The sporting infrastructure will now be adequate for our local leagues, maybe not at a hundred per cent, but significantly improved for the local leagues,” Mohammed said.
“There are our neighbouring countries who will now be coming to Kenya to play their home games. There are some countries that have not yet met the CAF and FIFA standards, and now in Kenya, we have facilities that meet those standards,” he stated.
“I am very excited that not only will the Kenya Premier League teams benefit from the improvement in infrastructure but also our neighbouring countries that are working on theirs will now have a home to come and play their international fixtures.”
