The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Electoral Board has announced that preparations are complete for the county elections scheduled for this Saturday, with 44 polling stations set to host the event nationwide.

The Board similarly confirmed that ballot materials have been dispatched to counties, with a virtual briefing for candidates planned for this afternoon.

FKF Electoral Board chairman Hesbon Owilla (pictured) stated that the Board has hired a private security logistics firm to ensure safe and secure handling of electoral materials.

Additionally, over 100 electoral officials have been trained to serve as returning and presiding officers for the polls.

This is for the purpose of ensuring smooth operations on the day of the election.

“We’re ready to go,” Owilla confirmed.

“We dispatched election materials to the counties, and following the training of election officers on Monday, the framework is now in place. Nairobi East has the highest delegate count at 167, while Kirinyaga and Makueni have the lowest, each with 7 delegates.”

The Board also addressed all complaints per the FKF Electoral Code, according to Owilla.

Today’s scheduled meeting with county candidates aims to provide further insights and a final civic education session on the electoral process.

On Tuesday, the Board met with the Departmental Committee on Sports and Culture in Parliament, updating lawmakers on the electoral preparations.

Speaking to the committee chaired by Kabete MP James Wamacukuru, Owilla emphasised that all necessary measures have been implemented to ensure that Saturday’s election will be transparent, fair and credible.
