Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Hussein Mohammed has rallied behind Junior Starlets as they face Cameroon in the 2025 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers campaign in a crucial match that will be played at Nyayo National Stadium at 3:00 pm.

Taking to his official X account on Sunday, April 20, 2025, Mohammed expressed his confidence in the team, hoping for a win.

Hussein Mohammed on victory

He stated that a victory for the Junior Starlets in their clash with Cameroon would bring the country one step closer to World Cup qualification.

While wishing the team the very best in the clash, he acknowledged that they have made the country proud in their previous match encounters, urging them to push through to the finish line with strength.

“The day is finally here. Wishing the #JuniorStarlets the very best of luck as they face off against Cameroon in the first leg of the 2025 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers. A victory today brings us one step closer to World Cup qualification. You have made us proud this far; now let’s push through to the finish line with strength. The entire nation stands behind you, #GoJuniorStarletsGo,” Mohammed stated.

The Junior Starlets, buoyed by home support and youthful energy, hope to carry their dream through the historic qualifier. However, they will need composure, tactical accuracy, and the ability to manage high and low moments while facing Cameroon.

Cameroon, a seasoned force in African football, won’t leave room for improvisation. Preparation has been meticulous. The Lionesses are expected to bring physical intensity, territorial control, and clinical finishing.

Junior Starlets’ WCQ campaign

Junior Starlets host Cameroon in the first leg of the third round of the 2025 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers at Nyayo Stadium.

The Mildred Cheche-coached side heads into the crucial fixture with an impressive six-match unbeaten run in the qualifiers, carrying high hopes of advancing further.

Junior Starlets, who broke the glass ceiling in Kenyan football last year by participating in the World Cup in the Dominican Republic, have begun another campaign in search of a second milestone. They thumped Uganda 5-0 on aggregate last month to advance.

Edinah Nasipwondi and Joan Ogola struck in Kampala for a 2-0 win in the first leg before Patience Asiko and Brenda Achieng sealed the Teen Queens’ dominance with a scintillating 3-0 victory in front of home fans at Nyayo Stadium.
