Kenya’s U17 National Team, Junior Starlets, has been hard at work ahead of the crucial tie against Cameroon this Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Nyayo Stadium.

Starlets are chasing qualification to the FIFA World Cup tournament following their 2024 achievement, with the West Africans standing between them and a place in the global showdown in Morocco later this year.

The team was, on Friday, April 18, taken through their paces in a training session that delved into the physical aspects aimed at building strength and stamina.

The session is likely to come in handy against the burly West Africans, who are certain to hand Mildred Cheche’s team the ultimate test of their quest for a successive World Cup qualification.

The Junior Starlets thrashed Uganda in the second round of qualifiers on March 16 to book a date against Cameroon.

As part of the preparations, Starlets toured Morocco, where they faced the North Africans in two friendly ties, winning one and drawing another.

Mildred Cheche will be itching to lead the team to another World Cup return after making their debut last year in the Dominican Republic.

The coach has been handed a proper motivation for the clash after being crowned the Coach of the Year at the Sport Personality of the Year Awards (SOYA) 21st edition held on Thursday, April 17, 2025.

After hosting Cameroon on Sunday, Kenya will fly out for the return leg in Yaounde on Friday, April 25.

The aggregate winner of the matches will book a ticket to the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
