Football Kenya Federation President Hussein Mohammed has praised the country’s security agencies for their coordinated efforts towards the successful conclusion of the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Nairobi.

Kenya hosted the 2024 CHAN tournament alongside Tanzania and Uganda from Sunday, August 3, 2025, to Saturday, August 30, 2025. Nairobi was the host city of the Group A matches that saw hosts Harambee Stars, champions Morocco, Angola, DR Congo and Zambia battle across two venues, Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani and the Nyayo National Stadium.

Following the success story of CHAN 2024, Hussein Mohammed has extended his gratitude to the city security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the tournament.

Kenya’s security agencies worked magnificently to ensure Kenya successfully hosted the recently concluded CHAN 2024 tourney. Their commitment, professionalism, and coordination played a huge role in delivering a safe and seamless tournament.

Taking to his X account on Thursday, September 4, 2025, Hussein Mohammed confirmed having hosted a breakfast meeting with the sector commanders of the various security agencies to thank them for their outstanding work. Husseinn said that FKF remains keen to continue partnering with the Ministry of Interior and all security arms to guarantee safety at our events in the upcoming football season.

”Special thanks go to the leaders who played a central role in this success: Mr. Tom Odero (Focal Point NPS CHAN – Deputy Director Operations, Kenya Police Service), Mr. George Seda (AIG, Host City Commander and CHAN Regional Police Commander, Nairobi), Mr. Edward O. Achola (AIG, Steward Commander and CHAN Deputy Commandant, RBPU), and Dr. Resila Onyango (Close Protection Police Officers Commander CHAN – Commandant, Diplomatic Police Unit),” Hussein Mohammed said.

The FKF chief also stated that the federation and the relevant authorities have finetuned security arrangements for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against The Gambia on Friday, September 4, 2025 and Seychelles on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Nairobi.

On Tuesday, September 3, 2025, Hussein Mohammed joined President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi. Together, they held talks with sector leaders and the FKF NEC in rallying the private sector to be part of football development in Kenya.
