Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) champions from Vihiga County, Ebwali Secondary School Football Club, coached by Francis Muhambe, have expressed concern over their team’s potential poor performance in the upcoming regional KSSSA games in Bungoma County set to begin this morning.

Muhambe highlighted serious financial challenges that are likely to negatively impact their preparation and results.

He stated that the team lacks essential items such as boots, proper player diets, and transport for the technical bench.

“I’m worried that Ebwali Secondary School is not adequately prepared for the KSSSA regional games due to financial crisis. The team lacks essential items like boots,” lamented Muhambe.

He explained that Ebwali Secondary School management cannot fully support the team due to the institution also facing serious financial constraints.

He further pointed out that unlike well-established schools like Chavakali High School and Musingu, Ebwali is struggling financially.

“Ebwali is in a tough pool B which comprises of Musingu Boys High School( Kakamega) Bukembe Boys High School (Bungoma) and Mabunge ( Busia). These teams have good financial muscles from their area leaders and their own institutions unlike Ebwali,” stated Muhambe.

“How do you expect Ebwali to beat the school like Musingu and Bukembe which have capacity to ferry hundreds of fans to cheer them. Ebwali is traveling to Bungoma with no fan and even part of my technical team is likely to be left out,” Muhambe continued to lament.

Muhambe also expressed concern over communication received regarding travel logistics, noting, “I received communication from the Vihiga County Ministry of Education that the bus will only carry 20 players and one coach. I’m uncertain how the rest of my technical team will reach Bungoma.”

He appealed to local leaders and well-wishers to support Ebwali Secondary School’s team if they desire good results, emphasizing the team’s determination to win the regional title if adequately supported.

“If my people from Vihiga County want good results from Ebwali tey should fully support it. Schools like Highway, and Kisumu Day pot impressive results because they are well supported,” added Muhambe.
