Favourites Kanbis to miss out in Nairobi Invitational final

Kanbis will sit out of the domestic cup final after losing by two wickets to Sir Ali at Nairobi Gymkhana during the Nairobi Invitational Cricket League decider.

The win see Sir Ali take on Swamibapa for the title next Sunday in what is anticipated to be a thriller.

It was Kanbis who won toss and selected to bat as they posted 151/10 at the break with Dhiren Gondaria (36 off 61 balls) leading the charge.

His contribution including five boundaries coming in as an opener before being bowled out by Tarandeep Singh inside 13.3 overs.

Harsh Kabaria (24 off 19 balls) was second highest run getter for the former Champions with two boundaries and two sixes to his name and eventually caught by Gurdeep Singh in the mid stump.

Kanbis were all dismissed in 36.4 overs after what would traditionally have appeared a horrid outing seeing as none of their top order batsmen evening sniffed a half ton score on the board.

Sir Ali bowlers were on fire from the very beginning nicely restricting Kanbis batsmen to stabilise on the crease.

Tarandeep Singh and Steve Nsubuga had five wickets combined as they quickly unsettled the opponents’ momentum with good deliveries out.

Big hitters like Rakep Patel (00 of 03 balls) and Sachin Bhudia (01 off 09 balls) found the going hard as they even failed to get double digits on the board.
