Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon, concluded her remarkable track season with a dazzling performance, securing the fifth-fastest time ever recorded in the women’s 1500m.

Kipyegon, a multiple Olympic and world champion who had previously set a world record of 3:49.11 in Florence, also shattered world records in the 5000m and the mile.

Throughout the race, Kipyegon maintained a commanding presence, closely trailing the pacemaker as they passed the 800m mark in 2:05.26.

Demonstrating her prowess, she reached the 1200m mark in 3:06.07 and finished with a strong kick, clocking 3:50.72, the second-quickest time of her career, and securing victory by over three seconds.

Ethiopia’s Diribe Welteji, the world silver medallist, delivered a stunning performance by slashing more than a second off her personal best to claim second place in 3:53.93.

British athlete Laura Muir, the Olympic silver medallist, secured the third spot with a time of 3:55.16. They were followed by Ethiopia’s Freweyni Hailu, who achieved a personal best of 3:55.68, and Australia’s Linden Hall, who set an Oceanian record of 3:56.92.

Faith Kipyegon season on

Despite concluding her track season, Faith Kipyegon’s year is far from over. She is set to shift her focus to the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Riga on October 1, where she will participate in her inaugural road race, competing in the mile.

Speaking on her performance she said, “I didn’t watch the clock, I was just running my race to see what would happen at the finish line.

“So it was amazing, to run a meeting record is just fantastic. Starting with the world record and now winning the trophy, it has been a fantastic year for me and I really thank god for that,” she concluded
