Mathare United midfielder Musa Masika once again hogged the headlines after netting a stunning goal on Friday, May 2, 2025 league clash against Sofapaka.

The former Gor ace made a grand substitute entrance, finishing off in the 75th minute to cancel out Edward Ondimu’s opener en route to the 1-1 draw at Dandora Stadium.

The goal, besides its spectacular fashion, stretched the team’s and his resurgence as it added to a recent week of high returns from the attacker who has contributed prominently to the team’s recent wins.

As one of Slum Boys’ midseason acquisitions following his switch from Gor Mahia, Masika has stepped up to the onus of responsibility with four goals in as many games for the club.

The statistic raised the player’s goals and assists (G/A) numbers to seven, with the league approaching its end.

Brace vs Tusker

On Sunday, April 27, 2025, Masika’s resurgence was at the show following a brace against title-chasing Tusker.

The clash cemented his super-substitute acclaim after connecting home from Ouru’s cross to nip the Brewers’ quest for the title in the bud with a spectacular brace.

He also registered a goal and an assist in a past clash against Post Rangers while claiming a pair of assists in Mathare’s clash against Mara Sugar.

Speaking after Friday’s game, coach Kamau hailed the impact and capabilities of the diminutive player, tipping his goal to claim the best goal award.

“I’m happy with the result. Musa came in, and he is proving himself to be a goal-scoring machine. I think that will be the goal of the season,” Kamau opined.

“Masika has been my player for some time now. He was part of my U20 team of 2017. I also worked with him at Wazito, and it is the reason why he has been fast to fit in and get his feet here,” he stated.
