Emerging Starlets ace Halima Imbachi keen to lead Butere to regional games
By Luke Oluoch, August 1, 2025Butere Girls and Harambee Starlet U17 defender Halima Imbachi has revealed the team’s targets of lifting the Kenyan national girls soccer title as they seek a return to the continental East African games.
Speaking after the Red Commandoes secured their place in the national final with a convincing 3-0 win over Kobala on Friday, August 1, 2025, the Emerging Starlet ace stated that they now focus on clinching the national title and carrying the form to the East Africa Games.
Diana Anyango, Metrine Kitiavi, and Celestine Aludo bagged the goals for the Western-based school.
“I’m feeling good after reaching the national finals. It has been our target to reach this final and also reach the East African Games,” she stated.
With the continental games, Kenya, and the Kakamega country in particular, Imbachi has acknowledged that the reigning western region champions should take advantage of staging the competition and give a worthy performance.
“Hosting the games on home soil gives us a big advantage, as you play in front of your fans, and that is a huge motivation for us. We are urging our fans to turn up in large numbers and offer their support. We promise to pay back with a good performance,” she stated.

The Red Commandoes, however, have to take on the next steps on the ladder, with a date against Madira School awaiting them in the ongoing national finals.
The two teams, who met in the Western regional finals, are set to square it off at the elevated stage this time with a renewed motivation, with the national title at stake.
Butere vs Madira
Clotilda Auma scored the all-important goal in the western region finals as Butere avenged a group stage defeat from their arch-rivals.
Imbachi’s sentiments come after the team celebrated their regional cruise, where they lifted the Kakamega County title on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Following the clash against Madira Soccer, the teams reveled in the feat as three-time regional champions.
“The long journey began: every stride, struggle, and drop of sweat had to be accounted for. Envisioned and focused in a stormy and bumpy way, Red Commandos delivered to their target and to the promise for their supporters, the great family of Butere Girls High School and the vast Western Region,” part of the school’s statement read.
“Clinching it three times in a row is a clear show of sheer determination and agility sprouted from your strong feet. You rise to the occasion to defend the crest of this great school. The morale is high as we take it on to the nationals,” the club’s statement concluded.
