Eliud Kipchoge and Kenenisa Bekele to battle in London Marathon

Fans expect a spectacle during the 2025 London Marathon when two greats, Eliud Kipchoge and Kenenisa Bekele, clash on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
The Ethiopian legend was the latest man to be added to the men’s elite list. He is the third-fastest man in history over the marathon distance thanks to the personal best of 2:01:41 he set in Berlin in 2019.
Bekele was runner-up behind Alexander Mutiso in London last year.

Apart from Kipchoge and Bekele, world half marathon champion Sabastian Sawe, who ran 2:02:05 in Valencia last month on his debut at the distance, Berlin Marathon champion Milkesa Mengesha, and 2024 Tokyo Marathon runner-up Timothy Kiplagat will also compete.
New York City Marathon champion Abdi Nageeye of the Netherlands, Olympic fourth-place finisher Emile Cairess of Great Britain, German record-holder Amanal Petros, Norway’s Sondre Moen, Australian record-holder Andrew Buchanan, Italy’s European half marathon champion Yeman Crippa, and Olympic triathlon champion Alex Yee are among the contestants.
Kipchoge will be making his return to compete in London for the first time since 2020. He has won four London Marathon titles in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019. He is also the fastest man in the field thanks to the personal best of 2:01:09 he set in Berlin in 2022.
