DCI Volleyball Queens open KVF Women’s League season in dominant fashion
DCI Volleyball Queens enjoyed a flawless start to their new Kenya Volleyball Federation Women’s League campaign after securing victories in all three of their opening fixtures at the Nyayo Indoor Arena.
The detectives proved too strong for Nairobi Prisons, Kenyatta University and Young Spykers over an impressive weekend run.
Off to a perfect start
Their season kicked off on Friday, December 12, 2025, with a commanding performance against Nairobi Prisons. Mercy Iminza and Sarah Namisi were outstanding, controlling play with their defensive brilliance and attacking precision as DCI cruised to a straight-sets triumph of 25-10, 25-14 and 25-19.
The encounter was also significant as it marked the comeback of left attacker Jemimah Siang’u and opposite hitter Marion Indeche following maternity leave. The duo made an immediate impact, delivering powerful winning shots that lifted the atmosphere inside the Nyayo Arena.
DCI maintained the same intensity in their subsequent matches, dismantling Kenyatta University on Saturday, December 13, 2025, before completing the weekend with another convincing win over Young Spykers on Sunday, December 14, 2025. Team captain Jane Mumbua led from the front, playing a key role in guiding her side to back-to-back straight-sets victories.

League newcomers Kenyatta University endured a harsh introduction, falling 25-7, 25-8 and 25-8, while Young Spykers were also overwhelmed in a 25-11, 25-14 and 25-12 defeat.
Early lead
After finishing second last season, DCI now occupy the summit of the Kenya Volleyball Federation League table, having collected the maximum nine points from their opening three matches.
Buoyed by the perfect start, head coach Patrick Sang will now turn his attention to the Kipchumba Karori International Volleyball Tournament, set to take place in Eldoret from December 19 to 21.
