After she cruising to a second place finish at the 59th Ostrava Golden Spike race in Czech Republic on Tuesday night, National Cross Country champion Sheila Chelang’at has now shifted her focus to Kip Keino Classic at the Nyayo National Stadium on October 3.

Chelang’at had to content with a second place in the 5,000m behind red-hot Netherland’s Sifan Hassan.

Hassan, fresh from breaking the one-hour record last weekend in Brussels, set a season’s best time of 14:37:85 while Chelang’at clocked a personal best of 14:40:51.

‘’I’m satisfied with the Tuesday result even though my target was to win the race, but I thank God for my achievement.

My focus now turns to competing at the Kip Keino Classic which is a big event in our own country,” Chelangat told People Sport after the Ostrava world Challenge.

The World Youth 3,000m bronze medalist won the National Cross Country title in February and was geared up to reign supreme at the Africa Cross country Championships that were to be held in Lome, Togo on April 8 before the event was cancelled due to coronavirus.

“After winning the national title, my target was to feature at the Loredo 10km road race in Spain as a build up to the continental event, but it never happened after coronavirus hit the world,” said the 2015 Youth Commonwealth 3,000m champion.
