Sofapaka FC coach Ezekiel Akwana is pleased with the atmosphere in his camp as the team prepares for the upcoming league matches.

He has high hopes that his side will secure their first win of the season. Sofapaka, also known as “Batoto Ba Mungu,” currently occupy the bottom of the league table with just one point.

They earned their only point in the season opener against Gor Mahia but suffered four consecutive defeats afterwards.

The team’s poor start led to the departure of Burundian coach Francis Haringingo, and Akwana was brought in on an interim basis to turn their fortunes around. However, they also experienced a 2-0 loss recently.

Sofapaka will face Kenya Police, who have won their last two matches under coach Zdravko Logarusic. Akwana believes his team is well-prepared for the match, emphasizing the importance of securing a victory to move up from the bottom of the table.

“We have to win this match if we are to get ourselves from the bottom, we have had ample training time and morale is high at the camp hence we expect a win. My players are more than ready for the task ahead. We urge our fans to come and support at Kenyatta stadium,” Akwana revealed.

For the first time in over three years, an FKF-PL game will be held at Machakos county, where Sofapaka will use the stadium for their home matches. They are hoping to produce positive results in front of a supportive crowd.

Sofapaka currently sit at the bottom of the league table with just one point, having lost five matches and drawn one.

Sofapaka’s opponents

Their opponents have recently reinforced their technical bench with Croatian tactician Logarusic, who has a wealth of experience in the Kenyan league, having previously coached AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia.

Since Logarusic took over at Police, the team has secured two wins, defeating Nairobi City Stars 1-0 and Bidco United 2-0 before the FIFA international break.

In their recent encounters, Sofapaka have proven to be a tough challenge for the Police, with the law enforcers only managing one win in their last four duels, drawing three matches.
