AFC Leopards signing
This signing follows the impressive performance of Koloti, who was granted a place in an exhibition match against Kakamega Homeboyz. He scored the decisive winning goal during the curtain raiser of the Governor’s Cup final.
Koloti’s inclusion in AFC Leopards comes after a prolific spell with Green Commandos in the FKF Division One Zone B, where he demonstrated his goal-scoring abilities by netting an impressive total of 21 goals.
This strategic move by AFC Leopards aims to bolster their attacking prowess and enhance their competitiveness in the league.
“AFC Leopards is delighted to announce that Christopher Koloti has joined us from Kakamega School’s Green Commandos on a long-term contract. The 19-year-old Burly Striker has been featuring for FKF Division one Zone B side Green Commandos, where he has scored 21 goals in the last two seasons,” Ingwe announced.
“He featured for our youth team in the Kakamega Governor’s Cup exhibition match at Bukhungu, where he scored the lone and winning goal,” the statement revealed.
“Christopher will join up with his new teammates for training. The transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes. Everyone at AFC Leopards welcomes Chris to the club,” the club concluded.
AFC Leopards lose Shaban
Koloti’s unveiling comes after Leopards rivals Gor Mahia successfully secured the signing of Mark Shaban, who had been undergoing training with AFC Leopards.
The transfer saga gained attention when a video, circulating online, showed AFC Leopards chairman Dan Shikanda driving Shaban around, sparking anticipation among Ingwe’s fans that the talented forward might join their ranks.
Contrary to expectations, Gor Mahia officially unveiled Shaban as their third signing on Monday night, adding fuel to the long-standing rivalry between Kenya’s renowned football clubs.
Shaban had previously trained with AFC Leopards last month, creating optimism among fans that he would don their jersey.
The teenage sensation honed his skills with the esteemed Green Commandos of Kakamega High School during the 2022/23 season, finishing as the fourth-highest scorer in Zone B with nine goals. He showcased his prowess in last year’s school games while featuring for Shanderema, playing a pivotal role in the team’s impressive third-place finish.
