AFC Leopards held to goalless draw by Kenya Police at Kasarani
AFC Leopards and Kenya Police FC played out a 0-0 stalemate on Saturday, December 13, at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, in the FKF Premier League. The result saw Kenya Police move to the top of the table, while Leopards remained in sixth place.
Both teams had chances to claim all three points, but the goalkeepers were outstanding throughout the match. Humphrey Katasi of AFC Leopards and Job Ochieng of Kenya Police produced several crucial saves, keeping the scoreline level in a match filled with high-pressure moments.
Leopards started the game strongly, creating early opportunities. In the eighth minute, Tyson Otieno received a cross in the box, but Ochieng was quick to react, punching the ball clear. Two minutes later, Julius Masaba fired a shot from outside the area, only for Ochieng to parry it. Victor Omune’s follow-up attempt also failed to beat the keeper, as Police held firm.
The visitors continued to press and produced another notable chance in the 13th minute. Masaba intercepted a pass from David Ochieng and sent Omune through on goal. His initial shot was saved by Ochieng, and Tyson Otieno’s rebound attempt was also denied. The pressure earned Leopards a corner, but it came to nothing.
Kenya Police struggled to create meaningful chances in the first half. Their first clear opportunity came in the 20th minute when Tansele Musengo delivered a cross to Exauce Misuri, but the attack ended with an unproductive corner. The remainder of the first half was a tight contest in midfield, and both sides went into halftime locked at 0-0.

Goalkeepers steal the show
In the second half, both coaches made substitutions to inject fresh energy. Police brought on Tobias Otieno and Eric Zakayo for Musengo and Misuri, while Leopards introduced Kelly Madada and Brian Wantama. Despite the changes, goals remained elusive, with the match dominated by strong defensive displays and key saves from the goalkeepers.
Katasi came to Leopards’ rescue in the 70th minute with a diving save from a long-range strike by Brian Musa. He also denied Eric Zakayo’s close-range attempt in the final minutes. Police, meanwhile, were aided by defender David Cheche, who cleared a late goal-bound effort from substitute Kelly Madada to preserve the clean sheet.
The draw ensured Kenya Police FC moved to 21 points from 11 games, taking the top spot in the FKF Premier League, one point above Gor Mahia, Kakamega Homeboyz, and Posta Rangers. AFC Leopards, with 18 points from 12 matches, remain in sixth place, three points behind the summit.
Leopards dominated possession in the early stages but were repeatedly thwarted by Ochieng’s alert goalkeeping. Kenya Police relied on counterattacks but were also unable to convert their opportunities. The match highlighted both teams’ defensive organisation and the critical role played by the goalkeepers.
