FKF Premier League side AFC Leopards has co-opted Caroline Walusaga Nasimiyu and Diana Kusa Obbayi to their National Executive committee.
Nasimiyu, a Human Resources and Administration Manager from the Kiambiu Salem Branch, and Obbayi, a Medical Business Development Manager from the Bunyore Branch, have joined the NEC, which now has five members.
AFC Leopards 1/3 gender
Their appointment is intended to achieve the 1/3 gender guideline set by the club. If the gender rule is not met during elections, the Club’s constitution permits the National Executive to co-opt members.
“Walusaga Caroline Nasimiyu a Human Resource & Administration Manager from Kiambiu Salem branch and Diana Kusa Obbayi a Medical Business Development Manager from Bunyore Branch have been co-opted to the AFC Leopards National Executive Committee,” AFC Leopards announced on Saturday
“This is in-line with article 8.2 in the club’s constitution which states : “The National Executive Committee shall at all times be subject to the 1/3rd gender rule and in case the gender rule is not met, then the National Executive Committee shall co-opt two other members to attain the above threshold.” the club revealed.
The Club held its election in June During an annual meeting and Dan Akala Shikanda successfully defended his seat as AFC Leopards chairman.
AFC Leopards re-elect Shikanda
Shikanda got 429 votes out of the 721 polled, while Namai from the club’s Facebook branch received 281 votes. Ten of the total votes were declared invalid.
Gilbert Andugu was elected Secretary-General with 433 votes, beating out Robert Omusawa, who received 244 votes.
The position of treasurer remained uncontested with Oliver Napali Imbenzi of the club’s executive branch taking over the role.
The new National Executive Committee assumes office at a time when the club has received a big boost after Spotika came on board just a few weeks after betting firm Betsafe terminated its sponsorship. Spotika has injected Ksh 60 million into the team ahead of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League in August.
Leopards eye league
The new team will be looking to help Leopards break their 24-year Premier League championship drought. Leopards will be looking for a steady start to the season to prevent a repeat of their 2021/22 start, which saw them win just two of their first ten games.
Fans will also be hopeful that the new office will assist Ingwe in clearing the transfer ban with FIFA.
Recently they won the Elijah Lidonde Cup organized by the club to remember legends who died recently.
The club beat Vihiga Bullets 5-3 in the semis and defeated Nzoia sugar on post-match penalties to win the Lidonde Cup on Sunday.
