President William Ruto yesterday directed the National Defence University Kenya (NDU-K) to research and write policy documents on how Kenya can address the various security challenges it faces.

The president spoke when he awarded certificates to the first cohort of graduates in the national security and strategy programme under the newly chartered NDU-K.

A total of 70 officers were admitted to the masters degree or diploma programme where 53 were Kenyan senior officers in the military and government agencies and 17 were from allied countries in Africa and Asia. “I expect this college to work on the post-graduate theses to give us insights on how we can deal with these challenges that have been with us for a while including banditry in the North Rift,” Ruto said.
