Women lobby group dubbed Azimio la Kina mama to campaign for Raila
A lobby group dubbed Azimio La Kina Mama will on Thursday hold a meeting at Catholic University to strategize how they will campaign for ODM leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.
According to a statement sent by group communication director, Sam Ochieng the group was launched by Raila Odinga in Nakuru County last month.
“It gives me pleasure to welcome your representatives for media coverage for Azimio La Kina Mama Conference to be held on Thursday 18th November 2021 at 9.00 am at Catholic University Auditorium, Bogani E rd. the Right. Hon. Raila Odinga launched the Azimio la Umoja in Nakuru, thereafter the Azimio train has been to several parts of the country, “ the statement read.
The main purpose of the event is to support and endorse Baba as he supports the women agenda across the Country.
Also, the statement indicated that they want to consolidate the women agenda for inclusion in Baba‛s Manifesto as he set the campaign for the race to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta.
“We want to prepare women candidates for the next election to help meet the national target of 5,000 women candidates for the two-thirds gender rule fulfilment,” read the statement.
Former prime minister has been traversing the country as he seeks support from Kenyans.
He is expected to face off with Deputy President William Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka among others.
