Wamuchomba: Kenya needs political solutions, not coalitions

By , November 8, 2025

Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has come out to assert that Kenya needs political solutions, not political coalitions.

In a statement shared on her social media pages on Saturday, November 8, 2025, Wamuchomba, who has in the past been critical of former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua despite their political alliance, emphasised that the country requires practical solutions rather than political formations.

She highlighted her consistent advocacy on key national issues, noting that she spoke out when others remained silent. Wamuchomba recalled demanding the implementation of “one man, one shilling, one vote”, only to be told to stop “rocking the boat from inside” Parliament.

She also flagged the need for debt relief for coffee farmers, lamenting that despite her efforts as founder and former chairperson of the Coffee Caucus, farmers remain burdened with debts.

On affordable housing, she pointed out that her criticism of government programmes led to her removal from the chairmanship of the parliamentary committee overseeing the National Land Commission.

Wamuchomba also noted that her advocacy for programmes such as Linda Mama led to accusations of being a feminist, but she insists her fight is for moral integrity, not political correctness.

Questions by Wamuchomba

She posed a series of questions highlighting persistent national challenges: Where is Linda Mama? Why have coffee debts not been waived? Where is the capitation for schools? Why is the tea bonus so low?

Wamuchomba, who in the past has been demanding answers on the full closure of the deaths that took place at Kware, which saw her being suspended from parliament for 20 days, continued to demand answers on the same, saying that the person behind the deaths should be brought to light.

“I will keep saying it. We don’t need political noise and coalitions; we need political solutions. I still ask, ‘Where is Linda Mama?’ Where are coffee debts not waived? Where is capitation for schools?” Wamuchomba asked.

Wamuchomba concluded by urging those in positions of influence to listen, reiterating her stance that Kenya does not need political noise or coalitions but meaningful political solutions.
