Wadi Degla taps energy firm Redavia for solar carport system

More Kenyan institutions are going green after Wadi Degla, a state-of-theart sports, social and leisure centre tapped energy firm Redavia for a solar carport system.

The deal will see Redavia’s carport system provide affordable, clean energy to power Wadi Degla’s facilities located in Runda, Nairobi.

This comes as appetite for solar energy is soaring as firms and institutions seek reliable and cheaper supply of energy amid an erratic power supply in the country.

The power bill surged by Sh1.20 per unit in March after fuel surcharge increased to Sh3.54 per kilowatt hour (kWh) from February’s Sh2.61.

“We are looking forward to the design and functionality of REDAVIA’s solar carport,” said Wadi Degla’s Operations Director, Ashraf Nasim.

“Wadi Degla Club is thrilled to have found a partner who understands the balance of our three energy goals: to decrease our carbon emissions, to lower operational costs, and to provide our customers with a premier luxury experience.”

Redavia’ founder Erwin Spolders said: “We are delighted to help Wadi Degla, a truly marquee partner, with our clean, affordable solar carport and luxury parking experience
