Vihiga elders welcome Natembeya ahead of his tour
Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has been welcomed by Vihiga elders ahead of his tour around the county on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
After a long journey from Kitale, traversing Bungoma and Kakamega and finally making his way into Vihiga, he was welcomed by a group of elders into the county.
The governor, as promised earlier, was in the company of some MCAs from his county, his agriculture CEC Phanice Khatundi, Sikhendu MCA John Kutila, and a few other leaders.
Opinion leaders visit
These come a week after a delegation of opinion leaders from the county visited his home in Milimani last Saturday, inviting him to make a visit to the county.
In response to these, the governor agreed to tour the county.
“Opinion leaders kutoka Vihiga wamekuja hapa kututembelea.
During that meeting, he lashed out at leaders from other regions who have been sowing seeds of discord among the Mulembe natives, saying that the region is fully united and, at the right time, the region will speak in one voice and unite with other regions in consolidating power.
Heroic return
This tour comes second after his heroic welcome following his return from Nairobi after being arrested by the EACC, where he spent a day behind bars before being released.
His first stop was in Luanda Market, Vihiga County, where locals came in droves to witness his return. He proceeded to make a stopover in Mbale before making his way to Kakamega and other western counties.

For the recent past, Natembeya has been positioning himself as a Luhya spokesman who is ready to represent the region on the national stage, something that has led to leadership wrangles within the Democratic Action Party (DAP-K).
