Natembeya faults DAP-K NEC for failing to address planned agenda items
Trans-Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, who also serves as the DAP-K deputy party leader, issued a separate press statement after the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the party headquarters, expressing his dissatisfaction with the outcome of the session.
Speaking on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Natembeya said that he, amongst some members, felt the issues the NEC was expected to address were not discussed. He further noted that they have decided on the unresolved matters; they will allow them to be discussed in the party’s Dispute Resolution Committee for consideration, as they had been formally raised for deliberation.

“Of course, some of us tunafeel ya kwamba maswala ambayo NEC ilipaswa kujadili haikujadiliwa; that’s why tuliallow iende kwa dispute resolution committee ambayo hizo issues zilikuwa raised zitajadiliwa,” Natembeya said.
This comes after a presser that saw him together with the party leader Eugene; the nation after the NEC meeting with them had a similar stance that they had agreed that all matters will be ironed out by a select ember co-committee, which was tasked with looking into the issues raised by the conflicting factions, only for him to air out his dissatisfactions later in a different presser.
State mole accusations
In the same presser, he distanced himself from accusations levied against him that he is being used by Ruto to undermine the DAPK party; the governor strongly distanced himself from accusations linking him to the president or being used by the state to wreck the party.

He noted that his clash with the party’s top leadership was being misrepresented as a move orchestrated by the state to weaken the party from within. Natembeya stated that, nowadays, when someone wants to finish you politically, especially if you are in the opposition, they first brand you as a mole.
“Siku hizi, mtu akitaka kukumaliza kisiasa, anakubandika tu lebo ya ‘rafiki wa Ruto’. Mimi, msimamo wangu unajulikana, na Wakenya wanajua,” Natembeya stated.
He challenged the party to investigate if they believe there is anyone holding secret talks with President Ruto or acting on behalf of the state to undermine DAP-K, adding that Kenyans already know his political stand and that he remains firmly in the opposition.
“Kama kuna mtu wanashuku amekuwa akiongea na president, wafanye uchunguzi ni nani, maana kudeclare na kupata mambo ni completely different, maana Wakenya wanajua where I stand,” Natembeya stated
