Nyandarua Speaker, Ndegwa Wahome says a senior politician is planning to kill him in order to stop him from participating in the County political affairs.

He says the plan to make him “disappear without trace” was hatched after a bid to remove him from the Speaker’s seat through impeachment appeared to be impossible.

The Speaker, who has been battling his impeachment in court says he will now meet the Director of Criminal Investigation, George Kinoti to record statement and give names of people involved.

“I will sit down with DCI to give him the inside information that I have about the planned assassination so that action can be taken,” Ndegwa said.

At the same time, Ndegwa who is also the chairman of County Assemblies Forum, alleged that the County assembly mace had been removed from the custody of Ol Kalou police station to unknown destination.

Ordinarily, the Mace which is the symbol of authority for the assembly is normally kept in the armory at the assembly but of late it is either kept at the County Commissioner’s office or at the police station since chaos broke out two months ago when some MCAs started impeachment process against the Speaker.

Wahome and Gatimu MCA, Kieru Wambui, speaking in Nyahururu alleged that the leader of majority in the assembly Ednald King’ori went to the police station and took away the mace.

When contacted, King’ori laughed off the matter, saying, “they should report to police if the mace is stolen”.

Ndegwa said, “On April 29, the high court sitting in Nakuru did decree that, on the face of it, the motion for my impeachment was unprocedural, to a great extent illegal and unconstitutional and therefore it suspended its implementation.

“The court further decreed that I resume my functions as the Speaker, as you are aware I had been asked by the court to step aside from functioning as the Speaker,” he added.

Ndegwa and Kieru said taking away the mace was a desperate attempt to defeat orders of the court and prevent the Speaker from presiding over sittings of the assembly from tomorrow (Tuesday)after high court in Nakuru ruled that the sitting of the assembly that impeached him did not observe the two-thirds rule when voting for his removal.

With Governor Francis Kimemia’s support, Ndegwa says forces opposed to him being the Speaker had in addition to taking away the mace, had also hidden the official speaker’s vehicle soon after the court ruling.

He said the turn of events in Nyandarua was preventing the residents from enjoying public services. He said this calls for serious intervention from higher authority.

“As Speaker of Nyandarua and a leader in this County, I am requesting his Excellency the President, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta to directly intervene in Nyandarua because Nyandarua as a County is going south, to the suffering of its people,” Ndegwa asserted.
