Political analyst Herman Manyora has praised Nyandarua Senator John Methu, saying that his political star has begun shining beyond his county and is now gaining regional recognition.

This comes a day after Methu delivered a fiery speech at the requiem mass of the late Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho Njuguna, during which he went for President William Ruto’s jugular.

In his daily analysis aired on his YouTube channel on Thursday, April 9, 2026, according to Manyora, the courage showcased by Senator Methu in Nyandarua was unmatched.

He highlighted Methu’s boldness in telling President Ruto, “mimi sikuogopi”, describing it as being on another level. According to him, the senator has now grown beyond Nyandarua and has entered Mount Kenya politics.

He further identified him as one of the leaders who will take over the mantle of leadership in Mount Kenya from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua should he decide to retire from politics.

“The courage showcased by Senator John Methu in Nyandarua was unmatched. His boldness in telling William Ruto ‘mimi sikuogopi’ was on another level. He has now grown beyond Nyandarua and has entered Mount Kenya politics. These are the people who will take the mantle from Rigathi Gachagua.”

He also said that Methu’s political career is promising and that it is up to him to keep the candle burning, noting that Methu is capable of going far.

Manyora also took a swipe at Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa, saying that although he is a bright and eloquent person, his once-shining political star has dimmed due to his blind loyalty to President Ruto.

Methu’s speech

This comes after Methu’s speech at the funeral earned him a standing ovation from the mourners and after his microphone switched off from time to time after he went full throttle on the president and his allies.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, while speaking during the same funeral, termed Methu a reincarnation of JM Kariuki, who hailed from Nyandarua.

Democracy for Citizens Party Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala also praised both his party leader and Methu. Being a drama scriptwriter, Malala described the scenario in Ol Kalou as a play dubbed “Reincarnation of Mau”, with Gachagua as the main character and Methu performing as the lead actor.
