Uhuru Succession: Mudavadi back in Mt Kenya after meeting with area tycoons
Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi is on a visit to the vote-rich central region after his Thursday, October 7 luncheon with the Mt Kenya Foundation.
In his Saturday tour, Mudavadi will visit Muranga county for the homecoming party of Simon Kamau Gikuru who was recently unveiled as ANC’s secretary-general.
Saturday’s visit by Mudavadi will be his 10 tour of Mt Kenya in a vote hunting drive over the past four months.
Gikuru’s homecoming will be held at Kiawambeu Primary School in Simon Kamau Gikuruwhose MP, Ndindi Nyoro is allied to Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Mudavadi’s presence in Mt Kenya coincides with a statement from Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua who said that any politician seeking the blessing of central Kenya must first seek out Ruto.
Gachagua who was speaking in Nyahururu, Laikipia County stated that the mountain is currently Ruto’s bastion and any politician who wishes to ascend to any seat in the region must seek the DP’s blessings.
The MP who had accompanied Ruto in a vote searching drive took issue with the recent engagements between the Mount Kenya Foundation and prospective presidential candidates in the Uhuru succession race.
“I want to tell those rich men that when they are finally done endorsing Raila Odinga, they should be reminded that Ruto is the current owner of the mountain. Anyone who wishes to climb the mountain must pass through Ruto,” Gachagua said.
His statement comes a day after Mudavadi and his co-principals in One Kenya Alliance (OKA) comprising of Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya), Gideon Moi (Kanu) and Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) were hosted at a luncheon by the Mt Kenya Foundation, a group of influential businessmen from the region.
