United Democratic Alliance (UDA) National Elections Board chairperson Anthony Mwaura has urged political parties and the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) to borrow a leaf from them on how to conduct elections.

Speaking on Saturday, September 20, 2025, Mwaura stressed the electoral body could do well with embracing technology.

“We would like to urge the other party to copy this success. As I said earlier, if the IEBC can embrace technology, it means by midnight of the ninth, a day after the election date, then we would know who the president is,” he stated.

His remarks come after the party confirmed that it had undertaken successful nominations in several counties and wards across the country on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

Mwaura disclosed that they had conducted nominations for the senate seat in Baringo and Member of County Assemblies (MCAs) in Kariobangi Wards, Kisia East, Tembelio, Lakeside, and Metkei wards, among others.

He further revealed the primaries will continue on Monday, September 22, 2025.

Nominations

“The nominations will continue on Monday with Chemundu/Kapng’etuny ward in Nandi County and the other three wards in Nyamira,” the party stated.

“The reason why we did not conduct them is because of the Seventh Day Adventist aspect,” he added.

In Tembelio ward, Reuben Kigen Tobosei was declared the winner of the primary.

Kigen was declared the winner after garnering 3,454 votes. Nicholas Koech came second with 970 votes, and Nahashon Kipsiro came third with 897 votes.

In Malava, Kakamega County Minority Leader David Ndakwa clinched the ticket for the by-election with 6,477 votes, defeating Ryan Malulu, who garnered 3,783.
