PS Kamau, Liban summoned

Lawmakers have issued summonses to Energy Principal Secretary Alex Kamau and Petroleum counterpart Mohammed Liban, compelling their appearance before the parliamentary committee on Energy on December 18.

The summons are in response to frequent power outages and the contentious Ksh17 billion oil saga. The committee seeks to meet with Anne Njeri Njoroge, the businesswoman implicated in the oil consignment deal, to gain further insights into its formation.

Chairman of the committee, Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka, cautioned that failure by Njoroge to attend the hearing would result in necessary actions.

Despite two prior invitations being ignored, the committee directed the Clerk of the National Assembly, Samuel Njoroge, to request medical records as evidence of Njoroge’s claimed illness during the previous session. The committee aims to ensure her attendance and gather comprehensive information in their upcoming meeting.
