Reactions to Ruto’s Nyanza tour

After concluding his extensive tour of Migori, Homa Bay, Siaya and Kisumu counties, Ruto’s statements are expected to evoke mixed reactions.

During the tours, the head of state hinted at forging a new political formation with the ODM party ahead of the 2027 general elections, stating that he had been the deputy party leader and had worked closely with Raila Odinga in the past.

His statements are expected to elicit different reactions both within the Azimio la Umoja coalition faction which has distanced itself from Raila and the ensuing superiority tussles in the Mount Kenya region.

Mpox cases surge

Even after the government intensified screening at the various points of entry around the country, the Mpox cases continue to surge with the latest discovery being made in Nakuru.

“One new confirmed Mpox case has been reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to four,” Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni said on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

The confirmed cases are now distributed across four counties: Taita Taveta, Busia, Nairobi, and Nakuru, with one case reported in each location.

Sunday blackout

Kenya Power has announced an electricity supply interruption which will affect the following areas on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

Kiambu County’s Juja Oasis, Pulp, Silvercoin Cura complex, Juja slaughter, and Highplast industries will experience a power outage from 9: 00 am to 5: 00 pm.
