A fire scare at the City Hall Annex sent tongues wagging after employ- ees feared that some unscrupulous people were out to destroy evidence in the accounts and human resource de- partments.

The fire, which was swiftly put off, saw senior county government officials rush to the scene of the fire to reassure the employees.

This is the third fire scare in the sensitive departments.

DCI officers at the scene had a rough time trying to investigate the matter as unruly workers shouted down NMS officials.
